About Trekking Tour Chiang Mai
A guide for walking out of Chiang Mai
Trekking Tour Chiang Mai is an independent guide for everyone who wants to walk in the hills of northern Thailand. Here you will find how the two-day trek with a night in a Karen village works, how the Chiang Mai treks compare, what two and three-day treks involve, what to see in Doi Inthanon National Park, which of its trails, waterfalls and viewpoints suit you, what the weather does on the mountain, how to walk up Doi Suthep to Wat Pha Lat, how elephant days and treks combine, which hikes are worth it near the city, and what to expect at Mae Kampong.
The site is available in English and five additional languages. It is written first in English.
How we research
Every number on our pages comes from a source that we link to at the bottom of the page: mostly the national park department, DNP, for Doi Inthanon and Doi Suthep-Pui National Parks, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a peer-reviewed study of northern Thailand's hill tribe peoples, and the Animal Diversity Web of the University of Michigan for the gibbons. The month-by-month climate figures are the World Meteorological Organization's 1991 to 2020 normals for the Chiang Mai city station, which lies far below the mountains, and the day length is our own calculation. Information on tours, that is duration, route, languages, inclusions, and starting prices, is taken from the offers on GetYourGuide and Viator.
Trails open and close with the seasons, and treks differ a great deal in how hard they are and where they sleep. That is why we tell you plainly what each listing states, what the park service publishes, and leave the choice to you.
How we make money
Trekking Tour Chiang Mai is funded through the GetYourGuide and Viator affiliate programs. When you book through one of our links, we receive a commission; your price remains the same. There are no advertising banners here, and we do not sell your data.
